Adventures come in a variety of forms. Sometimes we plan them and sometimes they surprise us.

Several weeks ago I was contacted by Chris, a friend of a friend, to take pictures of a surprise proposal he had been planning to take place at a coffee shop in DC. When the day arrived, I hopped on metro and headed into the city to Ebenezers Coffeehouse (they have delicious coffee and tea by the way – both of which I sampled and highly recommend).

Unbeknownst to Heba, Chris’ girlfriend, she would be brought to Ebenezers – where they had one of their first dates  – to wait on a supposed delayed restaurant reservation near by.

After grabbing some coffee, they sat down and started flipping through books that were near their table. Chris picked up a book which he hoped Heba would flip through. When he finally was able to get her to look through the book, they started reading it.

On the very last page, Chris got down on one knee and just as in the book, he asked her to marry him.

She said yes! It turns out, Chris had the book specially illustrated for Heba with a written proposal at the very end.

Sweet doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Thank you Chris and Heba for letting me be a part of such a special moment and best of luck to you both on your new adventures together!
